Omega Seamaster - Quartz Service

This Omega Seamaster was presented for a service. Quartz watches have fewer parts than a mechanical watch, however they still have oils and are susceptible to debris entering them during a battery change. A simple service can solve many issues.

The watch is stripped and professionally cleaned, then reassembled and tested.

The Omega Seamaster collection, renowned for its association with ocean exploration and diving, has a rich history that includes various models and innovations. Among these, the introduction of quartz technology marked a significant development. Here's a concise history of the quartz Omega Seamaster:

1. **Early Quartz Movements (1970s):** Omega embraced quartz technology during the quartz revolution of the 1970s. In 1970, Omega introduced the Beta 21 movement, one of the first commercially available quartz movements, used in the Omega Electroquartz. This period marked Omega's entry into quartz technology.

2. **Seamaster Quartz Models (1980s):** The Omega Seamaster Quartz models began to appear in the early 1980s. These watches combined the robustness and water resistance of the Seamaster line with the precision and low maintenance of quartz movements. One notable model from this era is the Seamaster 120 Quartz, also known as the "Pre-Bond," referring to its use before the famous association with the James Bond franchise.

3. **The Bond Era (1990s):** In 1995, the Omega Seamaster Professional Quartz 300M became iconic as it was worn by Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond film "GoldenEye." This model featured a blue wave-pattern dial, a unidirectional bezel, and a helium escape valve, quickly becoming a favorite among enthusiasts.

4. **Technological Advancements (2000s-2010s):** Omega continued to innovate with quartz technology in the Seamaster line. The introduction of the Seamaster Aqua Terra Quartz and the continued production of the Seamaster Diver 300M Quartz showcased Omega's commitment to precision and durability. These models often featured improvements in materials and design, maintaining the collection's relevance.

5. **Modern Quartz Seamaster Models:** While mechanical movements have become more dominant in luxury watches, Omega still produces quartz versions of the Seamaster. The modern Seamaster Diver 300M Quartz, for example, retains the classic design elements while offering the accuracy and reliability of a quartz movement. These models appeal to those who prefer the convenience and precision of quartz watches.

Overall, the Omega Seamaster Quartz watches are a testament to Omega's ability to blend tradition with innovation, maintaining the brand's reputation for quality and precision.
